1. The service
GearSuite is a Materializa engineering application for designing, inspecting and exporting gears and drive mechanisms. These terms and conditions apply when you access the website, use guest mode or create an account. By creating an account, continuing as a guest, or otherwise using GearSuite, you agree to these terms.
2. Accounts and guest access
- You must provide accurate information and keep access to your account secure.
- You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
- Guest projects may exist only in local browser storage and can be lost when browser data is cleared.
- We may limit, suspend or close access that is abusive, unlawful or harmful to the service or other users.
3. Engineering responsibility
GearSuite supports engineering work but does not replace professional judgement, physical testing, certification or an independent safety review. You are responsible for verifying dimensions, materials, tolerances, loads, manufacturing choices and fitness for the intended use before producing or operating any part.
4. Your projects and exports
You retain your rights in project data, designs and export files you create with GearSuite. You grant Materializa only the limited rights needed to host, process, back up and deliver that content as part of the service. You must have the right to upload or process any content you use with GearSuite.
Files you export (for example STL, STEP or DXF) are yours to use for your own engineering and manufacturing work, subject to these terms and to any third-party rights in content you supplied.
5. Licence to use GearSuite (EULA)
The GearSuite software, user interface, documentation, branding, generators, calculation methods as implemented in the service, and underlying technology are owned by Materializa or its licensors. These terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the hosted service for your own lawful engineering work.
This licence does not transfer ownership of any part of GearSuite. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, decompile or create a competing product from the application, except where applicable law expressly permits it and only to the extent it so permits.
Trademarks, product names and visual identity remain the property of Materializa. You may not use them in a way that suggests endorsement or a relationship that does not exist.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not attempt to bypass access controls, disrupt the service or gain unauthorised access.
- Do not use GearSuite to infringe rights, break the law or distribute malicious content.
- Do not overload, scrape or extract the hosted service for the purpose of reproducing it, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
7. Availability, plans and payments
Features, limits and free or paid plans may change as the product develops. We aim to keep GearSuite available and accurate, but the service may contain errors or be interrupted for maintenance, security or circumstances outside our control.
Paid subscriptions (Light and Pro) and one-off STEP credits are billed by Stripe (prices shown exclude VAT; tax is added at checkout where applicable). Access to a paid tier is granted only after Stripe confirms payment. Cancelling a subscription takes effect at the end of the current period unless stated otherwise at checkout. Unused monthly export allowances expire at the end of the calendar month and are not refunded. One-off STEP credits do not convert into a subscription, do not unlock unlimited STL exports, and may be purchased without limit.
Guest mode is for inspection only. A free account may export one pair or rack STL zip per month, and DXF on pairs. STEP on Free requires a one-off credit. Light unlocks planetary and cycloidal manufacturing files with a monthly STEP allowance. Pro removes the monthly STEP ceiling, unless you spend a STEP credit on that export.
8. Privacy
Personal data is processed as described in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Creating an account requires that you have read those documents. Optional analytics run only if you consent.
9. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, GearSuite is provided without guarantees that every result or export is suitable for a particular manufacturing or safety-critical purpose. Materializa is not responsible for indirect losses or for losses caused by relying on unverified engineering output. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

Questions about these terms can be sent to geral@materializa.pt. These terms are governed by Portuguese law, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence. If a court finds any part unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
